August 14, 2022: Mark 6:53–8:21 - “The Gospel and Religion”

Jesus's conflict with the Pharisees and his ensuing tour of the Gentile regions reveals three major differences between the gospel and religion: (1) Religion says we work our way to God, the gospel says God has come to us; (2) religion is exclusive, the gospel is inclusive; (3) religion tells us to be good so God will accept us, the gospel tells us to be good because God has accepted us.
